THE BIG PICTURE

A bank balance tells you what is there. A budget helps you decide what it is for. Dime Shield brings planned amounts, actual spending, and savings goals into the same view so you can work with the whole picture.

Plan by category

Set amounts for essentials, everyday spending, and the things you enjoy.

See what remains

Compare planned amounts with actual spending throughout your budget period.

Adjust as life changes

Review your plan when your income, bills, or priorities change.

01 / A CLOSER LOOK

Start with the life you actually live.

Build your plan around the categories that matter to you: housing, groceries, transport, entertainment, and everything in between. Assign amounts deliberately instead of trying to remember which part of your balance is already spoken for.

  • Create category plans for your budget period.
  • Keep essential costs and flexible spending visible.
  • Review money left to assign before adding more commitments.

SAMPLE DATA
01
Groceries$320 spent of $500
64%
02
Transportation$90 spent of $150
60%
03
Entertainment$75 spent of $200
38%

Planned amounts and actual activity, together.

02 / A CLOSER LOOK

Understand a category beyond its total.

Open a category to see the spending behind it. Trends, merchants, and individual transactions help explain why a number changed. When something is categorized incorrectly, review the transaction rather than adjusting your entire plan around a misleading total.

  • Compare planned amounts with actual spending.
  • Review the merchants contributing to a category.
  • Open transaction details to correct the underlying information.

03 / A CLOSER LOOK

Give future priorities a place today.

A savings goal should not disappear behind daily purchases. View category plans and goals together, then revisit your allocations as the month develops. When the plan is over budget, use that signal to review income expectations and planned amounts.

  • Keep savings goals alongside spending plans.
  • Revisit allocations when circumstances change.
  • Use progress indicators as a prompt for a regular check-in.

GOOD TO KNOW

Your questions, answered.

Does creating a budget move my money?

No. A budget plan organizes amounts inside Dime Shield. It does not make payments or transfer money between bank accounts.

Can I change a category during the month?

You can review and edit your category plan as your priorities change. Check the transaction categories too, so your spending totals reflect the purchases you intended to include.

Why is a category over budget?

Actual spending can exceed the planned amount. Review its transactions for incorrect categories or unusual purchases, then decide whether your plan needs adjusting.
